Everything We Learned Working Through the Pandemic

This month is more or less marks three years since the first lockdowns began globally in response to Covid-19. Three years is a long time and we wanted to highlight what has happened during that time in the copywriting industry,- from the way work has evolved to how we can continue to improve as we navigate our way through this strange, new world.

As a copywriting agency with its niche in tech, TMG Global is in a unique position when it comes to knowing  how work has changed during the pandemic. We’ve also had the opportunity to remotely work without many hindrances. We’ll look into what this meant for us as a team, as well as for our clients.

The Before

TMG Global has always boasted being a remote company due to the many advantages that come from having a remote team. This includes better work-life balance, higher quality copy, and overall a more diverse and talented team thanks to having team members readily available from anywhere in the world.

The Benefits of Remote Work

However, the perks of having a remote team do not only benefit TMG Global’s team members but could be even more useful to our clients. The benefits of hiring a remote team include cost savings, a boost in productivity, as well as greater diversity and inclusion.

Clients benefit from having access to a wider pool of talent which means that they can easily find a team that meets their unique needs regardless of location. They’ll have a cost savings by not needing to set aside a budget for things like office space, equipment, and other physical resources. Another great advantage of having a remote team is that workers are often more productive due to fewer distractions and greater flexibility. This means that clients always receive high-quality copy.

An improved work-life balance has its advantages for team members, but stands to benefit employers as well. Remote work provides flexibility and autonomy that allows team members to balance their work and personal responsibilities. This can lead to greater job satisfaction and better team member retention.

The ability to hire a remote workforce can help businesses create a more inclusive and diverse team which also provides a fresh perspective into the needs that a business may have. Remote teams are also more agile and able to rapidly respond to changing marketing conditions and client needs. This provides companies with a competitive advantage.

What We Learned

Remote work needs structure, discipline, and communication. The pandemic was an extremely taxing and emotionally draining time. TMG Global showed empathy and understanding in how work had to be done and this led to achieving overall better outcomes for our clients.

Establishing clear guidelines helps to ensure that expectations are met and everyone on the team is on the same page. This keeps the team self-motivated so members can make use of the flexibility of remote work for a better work-life balance so that team members are able to make use of the flexibility that will lead to a better work-life balance. This overall improves the quality of the work done.

We found that by setting schedules, we were able to better manage time and maintain productivity.

Doing Right by Our Clients

An important part of any company’s success is the ability to effectively market. During the pandemic, the landscape of marketing rapidly changed. This meant that the needs of our clients were changing in the same vein. We had to adapt our marketing strategies to respond to these changes and ensure that we were still providing relevant and valuable services.

That means it was and continues to be essential to stay informed on the latest developments in the copywriting industry - as well as the niches within which each of our clients operate. This has allowed us to adapt - remaining effective and efficient in our marketing, content creation, and any other needs that may arise. Let’s look at some of the specific ways TMG Global needed to adapt:

Digital Marketing

With the introduction of remote work and social distancing, more people were spending their time online. This meant that our focus had to shift more towards to digital marketing. Strategies included focusing on social media marketing, email marketing, and search engine optimization (SEO) so that clients could still reach their target market.

Tone

The tone and messaging of our copy had to adapt as well. The pandemic was an extremely sensitive time and as such, our copy needed to reflect language that was more empathetic and informative, and less sales-orientated. The impact of the pandemic on each client and their target audience was an essential factor that was included in the planning, messaging, and content creation.

Flexibility

Another aspect that was carefully thought-out and offered to our clients was better flexibility in terms of scheduling. The uncertainty of the pandemic meant that many companies had to adjust their budgets and schedules. At TMG Global, we accommodate our client’s needs in any way possible to the best of our ability.

New Tech

With the cancellation of in-person events, we had to become more creative with our solutions for virtual events. These included webinars and online conferences that needed compelling and engaging copywriting and messaging to engage audience that were not physically there. Additionally, we had to embrace new technologies such as virtual reality (VR) to create immersive experiences for our clients’ audiences.

What We Learned

While the pandemic was extremely stressful, there were many ways in which we, as a company, were able to navigate the changing landscape. This allowed us to better provide for our clients as well.

We learned to be more flexible, creative, and empathetic to our clients’ changing needs - as well as the changing market.
